So day 2 for designing the rest of my infographic posters. Keeping the same information but different design each time. It is quite exciting seeing how they come out. Today I present a landscape poster design. Not too much information displayed so I tried to play with the colour mostly. Enjoy :) Have a nice day :)

Last year I never got around finishing my infographics collection so I decided to finally re-start it and finish the rest of the collection. If you don't know about the project, it is about ships that I tracked for two weeks and collected information which I used for my designs :) So this is the representation of the temperatures written down in 12 days. The temperatures were observed three times a day.. But the most important part is the visual treatment of information that might bore people like me. Enjoy and have a goodnight :)

Work in progress: It is a corporate identity brief for Visualising... conference which is of photographic content. They wanted a logo or a symbol but not photographic as well as being flexible since the second part of the name changes each year. I actually managed to finish it in a day so pretty pleased with that. Now the rest... Have a lovely day people :)

I have finally finished my editorial piece and mocked up to look like a magazine.. I really enjoyed coming up with my own concept for a magazine. The magazine's name is ur[BANNED] and it is a magazine for urban explorers. It mainly consists of photographic content and it focuses on derelict places. The aim of the project was to create a magazine feature, the contents page and two or more covers to show how the letterhead would work on different issues. My features article was based on Carlisle Depot and it is my own photography. The rest of the photography found in the magazine is not mine and has been taken from various artists. The covers pictures are also taken by me in different places around the UK. Enjoy the layout, even if you read the contents it would not make sense since it is dummy text. Thank you, and have a nice day :)
University of Cumbria - Degree Show 2015
Our Degree Show this year is called Creative Swatch. We are a team of individuals studying at the University of Cumbria and we like showing our individuality. Each of our own favourite colours are what define who we are, in a sense.. just how much we differ.
So....the time is getting closer and we are getting ready for some exhibition updates.
I will be posting images soon and advertising the website, till then you can follow us on:

And the letter of the day is .... F is for Funny...or maybe not..

The font that we all love to hate!!!
Who doesn't recognize Comic Sans? It is one of the most overused typefaces today :) But it is okay, it is not the typeface's fault.
Seeing that I completed my dissertation on elitism and Comic sans as a show case, I decided to create a booklet called 'The Alphabet of Comic Sans' which is illustrated pages of Comc sans' letters of the alphabet. Of course it is not to be taken seriously because they are just silly illustration that I doodle on the side.
Sorry for using Comic Sans!
It was necessary :)
Keep in mind I choose randonly a letter each day to illustrate...
Today is F for funny.. I will keep you posted :)

Penguin book cover designs
So I really enjoy doing book cover designs and i decided this year to enter the competition for all the books included in Penguin Awards 2015. The results will be out on the 24th of April so we will see if I got anywhere with these.
Penguin Briefs
Book Jacket Design
Photoshop, InDesign
The brief was given by Penguin Brief Competitions 2015. They asked to design a fiction, a non-fiction and a children’s book. I decided to respond to all briefs given. The titles can be seen clearly on the book covers.

- Freakonomics - Non-Fiction
The idea behind the cover is the enlightenment of the audience after reading the specific book. It imitates the light that comes out of a prism whose true colours appear when passing through the prism. The brief asked for the cover to be vibrant and fresh.
Carrie’s War - Children’s Book
Inspired by 1940s War posters and the grainy feel to it, the idea behind the book jacket is when Carrie blames herself for doing something she didn’t do. The image clearly shows her holding the cursed skull which was meant to bring disaster if removed out of the house. I chose that scene because it is meant to be one of the most important ones in the book.

Oranges are not the only fruit - Fiction
The book is about religion and the homosexuality of a girl Jeanette who happens to be the author as well. The idea behind the orange peel being the snake , is Jeanette’s mom who is trying to oppress heterosexuality on her, daughter, and the apple represents her homosexuality, which happens to be also the forbidden fruit in Christianity. The brief asked to include things such as religion and the content of the book.

BREAKBiTZ - Musical card game
University brief

Ex-student Dan Sutherland who worked in the industry for a couple of years, visited our university and set us a brief around music. The aim was to come up with a new concept of listening to music, that would reintroduce the artwork that was long gone with the digitization of music.
The Concept
In a group of three individuals Natalia Faunch, Sophie Chapman and Julia Ivanszky (myself), we decided to reintroduce sharing music to kids. The idea was to make music more interesting than just listening to it. We picked as an audience children aged 9-11 and came up with the concept of a musical USB card game called BREAKBiTZ. The game is similar to Top trumps with the difference that each card has a USB card on the back. The special edition box set we designed was Disney themed, and the songs on the cards were hand picked popular songs. Each card can then be played on a device which would bring up the video clip of the track on screen. These cards can be exchanged, played with and shared with others. The three special edition card pack are Classical Disney, Disney Princesses and Modern Disney (2000+). These are then inserted into a special edition book alike box to be sold.
